Description of the partner: PININFARINA provides full-service product design services to industry-leading companies, such as Alfa Romeo, Ferrari, Fiat, Honda and Peugeot-Citroen Group, among others.

In order to mark the celebrations of its 80th anniversary and testify Pininfarina commitment on sustainable mobility, the “NIDO Electric vehicle (Nido EV), has been presented last in May 2010. NIDO EV is a supplementary outcome of the pioneering, far-sighted decision taken by Pininfarina to focus on sustainable mobility. NIDO EV bears the witness to the skills and the experience that Pininfarina has built up in the development of electric vehicles, paying particular attention to segment A city cars that will populate the streets of the future to make our towns more pleasant to live in. The first running prototype has been unveiled last year and presented to several authorities like the President of the Italian Republic and the Majors of Rome, Milano and Parma.

Magneti Marelli Suspension Systems

Description of the partner: Magneti Marelli Suspension Systems designs and produces suspension modules and components for motor vehicles. The business line is based in Turin and it is also present in Poland and in Brazil as well as in Italy. Within the Suspension Systems business line, the available products range from individual components (control arms, cross-members, axles, knuckles, brake discs and drums) to assembled modules (wheel groups, semicorners).

A structured design and testing department is capable of satisfying any type of technical request coming from the customers, with the possibility to develop parts according to specifications or as an improvement to an existing drawing.

A thorough knowledge of main technological processes in the Automotive sector and careful management of suppliers and partners allows the business line to manufacture suspensions in a wide range of materials, fully controlling their quality and performance characteristics.

Innovative products include new suspension archetype: a simple calibration and optimal K&C performances make these systems a real alternative to common solutions adopted by carmakers.

Fundación CIE I+D+I

Description of the partner: Fundación CIE I+D+i is a technical centre dedicated to develop new product of processes for the automotive industry with a team with high skills in stamping, HPDC, forging, plastic injection and machining process. CIE R&D is fully promoted by CIE Automotive Group, that is an Industrial Group supplying components and subassemblies to the global automotive industry, and working with complementary technologies (stamping, tube forming, aluminium die casting forging, plastic injection and iron casting) and a number of associated processes (machining, welding and assembly).

CIE R&D is focused on product development and R&D projects for all design stages: design, product and process simulation, prototypes and testing applied to all mentioned technologies, including several CAD facilities: UG Nx, I´DEAS, Catia v4&v5, Pro-E, Product CAE: Nastran, Abaqus, ANSYS, CFD, CFX; Process CAE:PAM-STAMP(Stamping and Tube forming processes), FORGE( forging and massive forming processes), MOLDFLOW (plastic injection), PAMCAST (casting processes, ferrous and non ferrous materials), Test benches for multiaxial fatigue and material characterisation and metallographic analysis.

Fundación AIC-Automotive Intelligence Center Fundazioa

Description of the partner: AIC-Automotive Intelligence Center is an open innovation center within the automotive industry, with a mission to generate added value to the sector, focusing mainly in people, by producing the best professionals; processes, by leading advanced technologies; and products, by ascending the product development chain. It integrates knowledge, training, technology and industrial development in a market-oriented environment. Priority is given to multidisciplinary work and the coordination of highly qualified people.

The Center is located in Bilbao (Spain) and is based on a new concept of cooperation. A total of 22 business partners and collaborators have physically located key activities (R&D, new products, training) at the AIC and work both independently and together. In fact, B2B cooperation is an aim in itself.

GKN EVO eDrive Systems Ltd

It was formed in June 2011 to industrialise EVO Electric’s axial flux motor technology for the Automotive Industry.
